How pay per view is calculated
Enter the terms you agreed with the creator, then paste each post’s views on its own line. The minimum decides whether a post qualifies. The cap limits the views that earn view-based pay. The flat fee adds a fixed amount to each qualifying post. Blank lines are ignored; invalid lines must be corrected before a total appears.
Below minimum or no views: pay = 0
Otherwise: counted views = min(post views, cap), or all views if cap = 0
Pay = flat fee + counted views ÷ 1,000 × rate
Total owed = sum of post amountsWith no cap, all qualifying views count. With no minimum, any post with positive views qualifies. Use final counts from the agreed counting window for reconciliation. Live counts can change. The tool applies one set of terms to the entire list; it cannot decide whether a post meets your content or audience rules.
What the sample represents
The default rate is $0.40 per thousand views and the default cap is 700,000 views. These are medians from the State of Clipping Campaigns study. The sample list combines published view percentiles to illustrate uneven post results. It is not an actual creator’s month or an earnings forecast.
All benchmark data comes from one advertiser’s own campaigns for DePuff AI, not a market census. The study’s median post had 5,111 views. Your creators may have a different audience and posting pattern. Replace the sample with your own counts before using the result to review amounts owed.
How caps affect the total
A post can have more recorded views than counted views. Once it passes the cap, additional views add no view-based pay. The capped flag marks that difference. A below-minimum post has no counted views, even if its raw count also exceeds a lower cap. Keep eligibility and the cap separate when checking a row.
Effective cost divides the total owed by all entered views and expresses it per thousand. That includes views beyond caps and views on below-minimum posts. The study’s pooled cost uses only earning posts, so the denominators can differ. This figure also excludes software, labor and payment fees. Displayed pay is rounded to cents; the total uses the unrounded calculations.
A worked example from the published values
Apply the default terms to a post with the study’s median 5,111 views. With no minimum or flat fee, it earns $2.04. A 99th-percentile post, with 2,100,000 views, reaches the cap and earns $280.00. These are calculated examples, not historical payments to specific creators.
Use the CPM and budget calculator before launch. Read the campaign guide for briefs, the agency guide for separating client fees from creator pay, and the payment documentation for supported terms. ViewsBase plans cover post tracking and payout calculation.
Frequently asked questions
How much should I pay creators per 1,000 views?
There is no universal rate in this data. The median positive recorded rate in the study was $0.40 per 1,000 views. Use the agreed rate for your audience, content and approval requirements. The default is a reference, not a recommended price.
What happens below the minimum views?
The calculator assigns no counted views and no pay, including no flat fee. A post at the minimum qualifies. A post with no views earns nothing even when the minimum is zero. Confirm these rules match the terms you agreed before using the total.
Does the cap also limit the flat fee?
No. The cap limits views used for view-based pay. The flat fee is added for every qualifying post. This tool does not model recurring base-pay slots, audience tiers, milestone bonuses or separate content approval decisions.
Can I calculate several creators together?
Each line represents a post and every line uses the same terms. For a per-creator total, paste only that creator’s posts. If creators have different terms, calculate them separately. The CSV contains post rows, not creator identities or payment details.
Does copying the CSV pay a creator?
No. It copies the calculation for your review. Your brand sends money with its own payment method. ViewsBase tracks posts and calculates what each creator is owed. Check post approval, final view counts and any payments already sent before deciding what remains due.
